I dreamt a dream

I dreamt of touching the stars,
Of speaking in front of a huge audience,
Of creating something above the ordinary,
Of making a place for myself in this world of billions,
Of making people smile.
Of fulfilling my wishes,
Of feeling satisfied with every day,
Of living a life of no regrets.

But little did I know,
That there’ll be times,
When the storms of insecurities surround you,
When the consequences of bad choices weigh you down,
When the clouds of disbelief stand between you and hope,
Barring you from even an inkling of it.
When days drag and nights seem never ending,
When people want to talk and talk, but you’re tired of listening,
When you’ve been waiting for your turn for years.

When you don’t know what you’re doing or where you’re going, after all life doesn’t come with a Google map.
When you want to do something about it but don’t know what to do,
When you can’t explain yourself to yourself.
When people find a million ways to call you useless.

But I dreamt a dream and I am bound to fulfill it,
I’d let not my patience waiver or my perseverance dither.
I’ll have faith and I’ll work.

For the dreams I dreamt,
For all the poems I’ll write,
For the stories I’ll tell,
For that one idea that’ll solve a problem,
For the sake of creativity,
For the people whose lives I am going to touch,
For the wonders that I’ll be a part of,
For being a ray of light to others my kind,
For a life well lived and for a dream well worked for.

  2. such a powerful poem! You are indeed that already with this blog and sharing your work 🙂

Google maps here are super untrustworthy … they send us into the sea, through a farmers field … I would want one of those for my life … I’d rather learn from my own mistakes 🙂

And you’re absolutely right about the Google maps, I just realized that it’s good I don’t have one for my life 🙂
